What items are the most essential in an Old Money interior design.
The Old Money Interior is one of my personal favourites. Alongside with Victorian and Georgian so no wonder I love this style too. If you love it too and would love to have the old-money feel in your own home get ready, because I am going to show you the most important items you have to have in your home to achieve the impression that you are an heir to a prestigious royal family.
- Paintings
Culture, history and artworks have to be present in the environment if you would like to achieve the Old Money Interior. So what if you are not sure what to buy and where it is always safe to start with paintings ( also you can always contact me for advice… ). The size is up to the wall you need to cover. You can go for one bigger size or cover the wall with smaller paintings. If you want to go towards extravaganza and luxury you can buy a picture light but in a traditional Old Money Interior I rather use candles for accent lighting and less artificial or led lights. There are other amazing antique shops, but my favourite source is still involves a little bit of haunting in charity shops, flee markets or eBay.

2. Instrument
Instruments represent culture and class, therefore great additions to your Old Money Interior. The reason why they represented the aristocrats is because these tools were created with difficult and expensive craftsmanship which were not affordable for everyone. They are amazing to entertain with as well as they look fabulous.

3. Books
Books are as well essentials for Old Money Interiors. You can find libraries in every Victorian palace and every aristocrat home. Books were again not accessible for everyone as well the knowledge which they were holding were not accessible for the lower classes. The most beautiful books I found when I was on holiday. In the middle of Rome on a stand, on some other stands on the pavement at the beach near the Yacht club in Monaco. Sometimes it’s worth to wait for special items. Otherwise for antiques books or book collections you can try libraries sometimes they do sell, eBay, flee markets or even home pages like Abe books for second-hand books. 4. Lifestyle
The Old Money families were all involved in social activities like shooting, haunting, cricket matches and balls. These items were stored later displayed in Old Money Interior. Accordingly in many Aristocrat homes you can find trophies, deer antlers, guns in the interior. Other items can be linked to other lifestyle activities like horse-riding. Pictures and sculptures of horses for example. I have been in an house where a saddle was on a stand as a part of the decor. 5. Family Portraits
This is a must have in every household with Old Money Interior. Family portraits. I would go for a classic hand painted one, but if you have photos those are great too. Involve everybody great great grandparents, grandparents, grand Mamas and grand Pappas, siblings, God mothers and fathers. It is even better if you create your own family tree and frame it. Yet again if it is a painted version that is much nicer and better quality ( that is what e are aiming for in Old Money Interiors) than a printed poster, but if you have just the least available that is good too.
